Thing is... the chaos around you changes the older they get. Might not be toys but it will be clothes all over. Might not be paw patrol but it will be love. But, yes, with a 15 year old now there are days I long for the tiny hand to still be in mine. Great reflection this morning.
Yess!!! This exactly! And I’m going to eventually write a note about this, but this is the first year we don’t have daycare over SUMMER! So our days are juggling! I went from one day camp to another and pretty much had chauffeur duties in between trying to work! lol. Anyway, loving it, surviving it, and definitely will miss it while I am simultaneously overstimulated by it all! 🤣
The fact that it took ten days to reply somehow makes me believe your story even more. 😂 Someday we’ll miss the chauffeur duties, the chaos, and hearing our names shouted from another room every thirty seconds. Right now though… another cup of coffee probably wouldn’t hurt. ☕😂
omg yes! More coffee please! And I make the SAME UNORIGINAL joke when I’m asked if a want a straw with my coffee: “do you have an IV? I’d take this straight to the vein.”😂
😂 Every parent is legally required to make the IV joke at least once. I think it’s in the handbook somewhere between “eat your food before it’s cold” and “don’t make me come in there.” ☕
Happy birthday to your kids! I enjoyed your reflections in this post. And I will admit that I enjoy the parenting phase I’m in now (kids aged 6 and 8) a lot more than I did a few years ago. I think some people are more suited to babies and toddlers than me.
Thank you so much! And I completely get what you mean. Every stage has its own joys and challenges, but I can already see glimpses of how much fun those older-kid years are going to be.
I still love the baby and toddler phase, but I’m looking forward to the days when our adventures involve more talking and less cleaning mysterious substances off the floor. 😂

I think that’s what I’m slowly realizing. The noise changes, but the season doesn’t really end.
Right now it’s toy explosions, Paw Patrol briefings, and tiny hands reaching for mine. One day it’ll be different chaos.
I just hope I’m paying enough attention to this version while I’m in it.
Absolutely this!
“One day this house will be quiet again.
And honestly, I kind of loathe the day that comes.”
🥹🥹🥹 we’re living in the good ol days right now! Trying to hold on to that and live inside the chaos as well!
That’s exactly it. Some days the chaos drives me crazy, and other days I catch myself realizing I’ll miss every bit of it when it’s gone.
Trying to remember that while stepping over toys and answering the same question for the 47th time. 😂 let the good times roll!

There will still be substances on the floor but they’ll be less mysterious because they’ll have the words to tell you what it is!
